Access and Participation
SBF Members have the opportunity to play their part in shaping the federation's operations and strategic priorities. Ultimately, the federation belongs to the Members and exists to represent their interests across a wide range of areas.
All SBF Members are allocated to a local area association which meet regularly to discuss matters of significance to the region's construction community. Each local area association elects a President to join the Board of SBF.
Furthermore, there are a variety of specialist committees the Members are able to join range from the contracts and legal committee to the large contractors group.
SBF Members also have he opportunity to shape the nature and curriculum of craft apprenticeships through SBATC.
Members can also pursue their interests by representing SBF on a variety of industry boards and bodies ranging from the CITB Council to the Scottish Building Contracts Committee.
In addition SBF Members also have the opportunity to provide collective indusry feedback to Scottish Government consultations and set the policy agenda through the completion of SBF's quarterly survey 'Scottish Construction Monitor'.
The extent to which Members wish to get involved with the work of SBF varies from Company to Company.
However, by simply joining the Scottish Building Federation Members are supporting an organisation which has the history, scale, unity and reputation to instigate positive change for the benefit of the Scottish construction industry.
SBF Managing Director, Vaughan Hart, regularly travels throughout the country to meet with Members in order to fully understand the issues effecting their businesses. All SBF Members can request to meet with Vaughan to discuss their business requirements and the services that SBF can offer to support their organisation.
Moreover, SBF Members also have available complimentary use of SBF's meeting room in the centre of Edinburgh which can accommodate approximately 24 delegates. The room can be set up in theatre or board room style, is fully wifi enabled and has plasma widescreens and overhead projection facilities.
The SBF office is located 100 yards from the Scottish Parliament building and directions are available here.
